With the closing date just two weeks away, teams competing in the HSBC 10K Corporate Challenge are reminded to enter now to be in with a chance of winning one of five new prize categories in this year’s event.

Open to all private and public sector businesses and organisations, the HSBC 10K Corporate Challenge is part of the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running on 2 October 2011.. Teams of four to six employees are invited to compete for the Fastest Team in one of the five team prize categories, with an additional award for the Fastest Team Overall. The categories are:

• Accountancy & Finance
• Legal & Property
• Energy & Engineering
• Public Sector
• Jack of All Trades.

Training encourages team members to build fitness – and fun! – into their daily routine as they prepare for the event. The HSBC 10K Corporate Challenge is open to employers and employees from all sectors of business and industry.

The scenic route for the 10K takes runners through the outskirts of Inverness and then into the centre of the Highland capital, finishing in a spectacular location next to the River Ness. The flat course offers excellent potential for a fast time, making it popular with runners throughout the country.

Trevor Colbourne, senior commercial manager, based in HSBC’s Inverness branch, added: “We’re delighted to be supporting a local initiative such as the 10K Corporate Challenge, as part of the Baxters Loch Ness Running Festival.”

Trevor continued: “At HSBC, we understand the importance of building a strong team to deliver results and exceed expectations. Whatever your ability, the challenge is a fun event which not only fosters team building, but also helps promote fitness and wellbeing in the workplace, as competing teams start their training.”

Malcolm Sutherland, event and race director of Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running, said: “The five new prize categories on offer in this year’s HSBC 10K Corporate Challenge is bound to generate a bit of friendly rivalry as teams compete for the fastest time in each category. The prospect of winning one of the new prizes will be an added incentive for businesses and organisations to enter in the October event.  The HSBC 10K Corporate Challenge really is a great way for people who work together to bring some fun into their exercise routine – and the prospect of a trophy to honour their efforts! Entry is still open for all 10K and 5K events at the Festival – visit http://www.lochnessmarathon.com now to book your place.”

A fantastic programme of entertainment is on offer in the Festival village for all family and friends turning out to cheer on the runners. Live music, the Baxters Food and Drink Fayre, a sports expo and activities for kids, a Wee Nessie run for under 5s, means there is lots to do for runners and companions of all ages.

Entry is open until 12 September for all Festival events including the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, Baxters River Ness 10K and the Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run. Places for the Marathon remain open for charity, club and overseas runners only.
